April, 22 is Earth Day. People try to help nature. Water is very important for life, but there is no ocean or sea which is not used as a dump. Many rivers and lakes are poisoned too.
Fish and reptiles can’t live in them. If people drink this water they can die. It happens so because factories and plants produce a lot of waste and pour it into rivers. There are some holes in the ozone layer and ultraviolet radiation can get to the earth. Many scientists think that these holes are the result of air pollution. The way people live has changed the climate on our planet. Nowadays the temperature is rising. But if the temperature grows by 3-4 degrees it will be impossible to live on the Earth.
If people want to survive they must solve their problems quickly. Man is beginning to understand that his environment is the whole earth, the protection of the environment is a universal concern.
In 1969 was founded Greenpeace. It is an international environmental organization. Members of Greenpeace appear in the places where the environment is endangered. Their aim is protection of natural things. Greenpeace has offices in many countries of the world including Russia. The Greenpeace activity helps people to protect our planet.
